Well-crafted stories stick with you. They move the soul, offer clarity and meaning, and inspire. Stories bind together families, generations, employees, and customers. A Past Preserved works with individuals and groups to capture their authentic stories—the high points and the setbacks—through a meaningful, engaging process.
In a relaxed setting, Haden Holmes Brown interviews the storyteller, edits the memories into a cohesive narrative, and researches to place events in historical context. To create a professionally designed book, she gathers primary documents, photographs, and keepsakes to illustrate the story. Written in the first-person point of view, the narrator’s voice, personality, values, and humor permeate each page.
Families may choose to include up to five generations of genealogical research—to gain a deeper understanding of their ancestry and to create a family tree. Immigration stories cover the family's history in their home country, the challenges of immigrating, and how they built new lives in their adopted country.
Whether you are interested in capturing the memories of the living or creating a memorial tribute, the results will be gratifying for generations to come.
“There was never yet an uninteresting life. Such a thing is an impossibility. Inside of the dullest exterior there is a drama, a comedy, and a tragedy.”
—Mark Twain
WE OFFER
YOU A
JOURNEY
“Knowing our family is knowing ourselves. Our values and traditions are through the struggles, heartache, pain, hopes and dreams of our ancestors.”
—Alex Haley, Author
Creating a life, business, organizational, or family history is a voyage of self-discovery. It’s a way to make sense of the past and to pass this wisdom on to future generations. The interview process spans the memories, people, and events of a lifetime. A life history is usually the result of a single narrator, while business, organization, and family histories most often include multiple narrators.
